Overview and Assembly

Assembly is dead simple. See the video above.

44 Delta has no affiliation with Covert Instruments. These do not modify the original picks in any way and are simply an accessory intended to make your picking experience more comfortable and enjoyable.

Features

  • Extended tail piece for additional comfort and support while picking (adds ~30mm to the length of the pick)
  • 6 high-quality N52 magnets per handle pair (3 per half)
  • Excellent fit-up to secure the picks tightly
  • Easy assembly/disassembly
  • Available in a wide variety of colors

Case Fit

When assembled on the picks, these will not fit in the original pick pocket of your CI case. That pocket is only tall enough for the original Reaper picks. However, there is a pocket on the opposite side that at least a couple of these will fit into.

Shimming for a Tighter Fit

You may need to shim your raw pick handles to get a truly perfect fit for your needs. It's non-destructive and very easy to do. Please refer to Shimming for a Better Pick Handle Fit-Up for more information.

About the Magnets

Magnetic, but, but, but... Let me stop you right there. First of all, yes, these are magnetic handles. 6 high-quality N52 magnets per handle pair to be precise. I (eschlenz) initially avoided using magnets out of fears that I'd magnetize the pick, which might get annoying in certain circumstances. However, after testing, here are the facts:

  1. Your picks are already up against a magnet when in their case (that's how the case stays shut).
  2. Even with 6 of these high-powered N52 magnets lined up along the handle, I was not able to pick up even the tiniest springs I have (ASSA 6K side pin springs) with the tip of the pick.
  3. The vast majority of locks use brass pins, which are non-ferrous (eg: non-magnetic).
  4. Magnetic pick handles are already a "thing" out in production and are used to good effect.
