INTERNATIONAL VERSION — MAGNETS ARE NOT INCLUDED.

Due to international laws and customs ambiguities, I do not sell the version of the Spring Sweeper with the N52 magnets outside the United States. You can, however, purchase the printed model and get your own magnets.

Detailed assembly instructions and links for where I buy the magnets can be found here.

TL;DR

This is an over-powered and over-engineered spring-sweeping beast, with a touch of style so that it looks nice on your workbench. It is designed around 8 true N52 power magnets (not included) arranged in a specific Halbach array to maximize effectiveness. A lot of design, testing, trial and error, and energy went into this product.

The Scenario

You are gutting (or assembling) a lock. Perhaps it's a cheap lock. Or perhaps it's a very expensive and rare black belt-level lock—a lock for which replacement parts are very hard to come by. All of a sudden... PING! You launch a spring into the sky, totally unsure of where it went. Worse yet, your floor does a fantastic job of hiding tiny parts like these. What. Do. You. Do?

I (eschlenz) have had this exact thing happen to me. My solution was always a super high-powered magnet. It worked like a charm. I wouldn't blame you at all for opting out of purchasing this item in favor of a cheaper solution. However...

If you appreciate the testing methodology, the engineering process, and the fact that one of locksport's own (myself) designed and created this, then you may take interest in what I have to offer here.

How to Use

Once assembled with the required magnets, place the magnet side toward the surface (floor, table, etc.) and slowly sweep the device back and forth while hovering somewhere between a half-inch and 2 inches above the surface. Let the power of the 8 N52 magnets arranged in a Halbach array do the work for you and find those hard-to-spot, hard-to-replace springs and other ferrous components.

Magnet Safety

The completed Spring Sweeper uses N52 magnets that are extremely powerful and intended for responsible adult use only. WARNING: Magnets can pose serious hazards if swallowed or used improperly. Ingestion of magnets can cause life-threatening injuries, especially in children. Keep magnets and the assembled product out of reach of children and pets at all times. Magnets may also interfere with electronic devices, including pacemakers. The Spring Sweeper is specifically designed for capturing small metal objects and should not be used for any other purpose. Use magnets with caution and follow all applicable safety guidance.
